Hello friends! After a bit of a hiatus and hibernation, we are back at it! We had a ton of fun playing Rock City Eatery for our first appearance at The Hamtramck Music Festival earlier this month, and are super proud of our local music scene for putting together such a wildly successful event and with all proceeds going to charity! The talent, dedication and creativity of the musicians in this town is inspiring, to say the least.
We’ve already got quite a few shows on the books into the Summer, so be sure to check our Shows page if you want to catch us live, but our next full band show is Friday, May 20th, at The New Way in Ferndale! This will be a special release show (more about that later) with Anthony Retka’s Big Parade and Dormont Police!
Not to worry, though, if you’re itching to hear some Bloofs tunes live, our acoustic trio (now billed as Kate Hinote & The Disasters because they’re the most disastrous of the bunch), has a trio of shows in the next couple of months. The Disasters can’t wait to share a stage with Julia Stephenson and Michelle Kisner for The Haunted Wood Revue at Corktown Studios. This is a special event, where the “rotating cast of acoustic musicians will perform through a cavernous, reverb-soaked production evoking a musical landscape that’s mysterious and classic.” Thanks to a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, this year’s HWR performances will be recorded to be released on a compilation album in 2017. This is an early and FREE show.
The trio will also be kicking off The Whitney’s Thursday night music series inside their third floor Ghostbar on April 7th, with two sets at 6:30p and 8p. Stop by The Whitney in Midtown after work and grab a drink and/or a bite in this gorgeous upscale lounge. No cover.
Stay tuned for further announcements about upcoming shows/events, and be sure to subscribe to our page (on our home page) so that you’re the first to know when we’ve got updates to share!
